AMI-Wind measurements compared to SSM/I interpretations over Arctic sea ice / Alain Cavanié, Francis Gohin.
Title: | AMI-Wind measurements compared to SSM/I interpretations over Arctic sea ice / Alain Cavanié, Francis Gohin. |
Author(s): | Cavanié, Alain. Gohin, Francis. |
Date: | 1994. |
Publisher: | Piscataway, NJ: Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers |
In: | IGARSS'94 : International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium : Surface and Atmospheric Remote Sensing: Technologies, Data Analysis and Interpretation : California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, California USA, August 8-12, 1994. (1994.), Vol.1. |
Abstract: | AMI-Wind is three-beam scatterometer at C-band (5.3 GHz), VV polarized. Total coverage of ocen north of Arctic Circle would be achieved in three days of SAR-mode operation of AMI did not interfere with scatterometer mode of instrument. During winter months, higher values of backscattering coefficient over Arctic Ocean are closely related to multiyear concentrations given by NASA Team algorithm. In early May, strong and rapid decrease of spectral gradient ratio near coast of Siberia leads to sudden appearance of multiyear ice, in contradiction to backscatter values, which remain low. |
