Record #129538:

Environmental aspects on the future of the Barents Sea Region / Henrik Østerholm.

Title: Environmental aspects on the future of the Barents Sea Region / Henrik Østerholm.
Author(s): Østerholm, Henrik.
Date: 1994.
Publisher: Umeå: CERUM
In: Barents region : security and economic development in the European North. (1994.),
Abstract: Area has huge resources on land and in sea. Damage has included over- fishing of Norwegian cod, felling of forests in northern Finland and Sweden and pollution on Kola Peninsula. Yet because of size, much is still untouched. Economic development will reduce pollution, because of greater efficiency, except for oil production. Tourism brings damage; "rucksack and tent" type is best on mainland, but worse than shipborne tourism on islands.
