Record #129392:
A nonlinear steady-state model of the North Water Polynya, Baffin Bay / M.S. Darby, Andrew J. Willmott, Lawrence A. Mysak.
Title: | A nonlinear steady-state model of the North Water Polynya, Baffin Bay / M.S. Darby, Andrew J. Willmott, Lawrence A. Mysak. |
Author(s): | Darby, M. S. Willmott, Andrew J. Mysak, Lawrence A. |
Date: | 1994. |
In: | Journal of Physical Oceanography. (1994.), Vol. 24(5) (1994) |
Abstract: | Presents model based on that of Mysak and Huang (ibid., 1992, 22(6) :596-608), but extended in several ways: finite amplitude displacements of upper-layer thickness are allowed; channel walls diverge to south; sensible-heat flux from lower layer is physically well defined in terms of vertical entrainment velocity; and free-drifting frazil ice to north of ice edge of North Water polynya is allowed to nove to right of northerly winds. Discusses results; one is that with exception of late spring, asymptotic southern ice-edge position of polynya can be simulated in terms of latent heat model alone. |
Notes: | Journal of Physical Oceanography. Vol. 24(5) :1011-1020 (1994). |
