Abstract: Field observations and measurements provide empirical information on external and internal morphology in this alpine region. Animal activity, wind action, effects of surface water and/or ice, and influence of needle ice are factors which cause breakup of thufur. Some thufur in this valley are periodically active under present climatic conditions.
