Assimilation eller segregation? Nordamerikansk indianpolitik och svensk samepolitik 1880-1920 / Roger Kvist.

Title: Assimilation eller segregation? Nordamerikansk indianpolitik och svensk samepolitik 1880-1920 / Roger Kvist.
Translated title: Assimilation or segregation? North American Indian politics and Swedish Saami politics 1880-1920.
Author(s): Kvist, Roger.
Date: 1994.
Language: Swedish.
In: Tromsø Museums Skrifter. (1994.), Vol. 25 (1994)
Abstract: In United States and Canada as well as in Sweden, arrangement was introduced from 1880s whereby indigenous people were in practice legally and economically segregated from rest of population. This took place within frames of administrative guardianship. North America had ideals for this kind of special treatment, but it was new in Sweden. Convergence can be sought in common social Darwinism used as weapon in seeking control of natural resources.
