Abstract: Most cow names can be divided into two categories, either naming after weekdays or describing colour or patterns such as spots or stripes. Author gives examples of Norwegian and Finnish origins, besides descriptive names. All dog names describe dog. No cow names may describe dogs or vice versa. Limits are set by tradition or taste.
