Language: | Swedish. |
In: | Tromsø Museums Skrifter. (1994.), Vol. 25 (1994) |
Abstract: | Oldest records of Saami culture mention milking of reindeer. Milk products were important part of diet, and cheese an important trade item. Israel Ruong's descriptions, made in 1940s in Västerbotten, show that words were borrowed from Finnish. Author shows that milking as way of life gradually came to end, due to high demand for human labour. |
