| Abstract: | Standards and criteria applied in censuses in second half of last century varied. Distribution of Saami, Kvens and Norwegians runs into problems of incommensurability. Criteria were based in complex way on descent. Reliable parish registers and overview of Prof. Friis used broader categorisations based on language use. |
