Experiments on formation of water channels in a glacier / Ken Koizumi, Renji Naruse.

Title: Experiments on formation of water channels in a glacier / Ken Koizumi, Renji Naruse.
Author(s): Koizumi, Ken.
Naruse, Renji.
Date: 1994.
Language: Japanese.
In: Seppyo : Journal of the Japanese Society of Snow and Ice. (1994.), Vol. 56(2) (1994)
Abstract: Laboratory experiments at 0°C showed how water veins and channels develop. Concludes that, during early ablation in temperate glacier, veins are formed at bottom of supraglacial pond or water-filled crevasses, and these evolve to form water channels about 10 cm in diameter. If temperature is higher than 0°C, growth rate of channels is faster.
