Record #129013:

Haloperoxidase activities in Arctic macroalgae / Gabriele Mehrtens.

Title: Haloperoxidase activities in Arctic macroalgae / Gabriele Mehrtens.
Author(s): Mehrtens, Gabriele.
Date: 1994.
In: Polar Biology. (1994.), Vol. 14(5) (1994)
Abstract: Haloperoxidase activities were assayed in 21 species of Arctic green, red and brown macroalgae in Kongsfjord at Ny Ålesund (Svalbard). Enzymes were specific for bromide and/or iodide, but not for chloride. Highest bromoperoxidase activities were found in brown seaweeds and highest iodoperoxidase activities in green species. Optimum pH for bromination was between 4 and 7.
