| Abstract: | Expedition constituted first comprehensive investigation of isolated, hyperarctic semi-nunatak Kilen in eastern North Greenland. Marine, clastic sediments are preserved from Late Jurassic to Late Cretaceous period, where local pull-apart basin later developed, followed by localized compression, forming series of domal folds and thrusts. Quaternary marine sediments have been found to contain mollusc fauna. Local icecap, Flade Isblink, seems to have different history from that of Inland Ice. 34 species of higher plants, 29 of birds and 11 of mammals were recorded. Vegetation studies indicate July mean temperature of 2.5 deg. C. |
