Neogene palaeoceanography and palaeoclimate history from Fram Strait: changes in accumulation rates / Suzanne O'Connell, Thomas C.W. Wolf-Welling, Michel Cremer, Rüdiger Stein.

Title: Neogene palaeoceanography and palaeoclimate history from Fram Strait: changes in accumulation rates / Suzanne O'Connell, Thomas C.W. Wolf-Welling, Michel Cremer, Rüdiger Stein.
Author(s): O'Connell, Suzanne.

Date: 1993.
In: Ocean Drilling Program. Proceedings. Scientific Results. (1993.), Vol. 151 (1993)
Abstract: Changes in coarse fraction, calcium carbonate and total organic accumulation rates and weight % define four Neogene climatic and oceanographic regimes for deep water Fram Strait (Site 909). These changes are not so well developed at intermediate depth at Site 908. Tectonic control is dominant on Stage I, formed before sustained bottom-water flow. Stage II is also Miocene, largely result of build-up of ice sheets. Stage III, Miocene to Pliocene, has first dropstones. Stage IV, Pliocene to present, contains high amplitude variations in coarse fraction and % total organic carbon.
