Record #126938:
Periglacial environmental developments between 30 and 20 ka BP in Denmark / Else Kolstrup.
Title: | Periglacial environmental developments between 30 and 20 ka BP in Denmark / Else Kolstrup. |
Author(s): | Kolstrup, Else. |
Date: | 1993. |
Abstract: | Describes sedimentary sequence covering this time span. Composed of loess and sand-loess, alternating with waterlain sediments in lower part and with slope deposits in upper part. Evidence shows that there was much reworking of sediments by wind. Presence of slope deposits and frost-wedge casts points to permafrost (intermittent?) between 24 and 20 ka BP and possible between 27 and 24 ka BP. Vegetation was probably present throughout entire period. |
Notes: | Offprint: Geologie en Mijnbouw. Vol. 72(2) :159-166. |
Keywords: | 551.34 -- Geocryology. Frozen ground. 551.343 -- Periglacial processes. Thermokarst. 551.345.3 -- Permafrost, composition and structure. Ice wedges. 551.583.3 -- Climatic changes, Quaternary. E8 -- Glaciology: frost action and permafrost. (489) -- Denmark. |
