Record #126937:
Late Plenivistulian deglaciation and the expansion of the periglacial zone in NW Poland / Stefan Kozarski.
Title: | Late Plenivistulian deglaciation and the expansion of the periglacial zone in NW Poland / Stefan Kozarski. |
Author(s): | Kozarski, Stefan. |
Date: | 1993. |
Abstract: | In this region, periglacial phenomena occur mostly in outwash plains, till plains and pradolina terraces, and occasionally in alluvial fans and inland dunes. Some contain evidence of former permafrost and can be used as palaeoenvironmental reconstructions of Late Pleistocene deglaciation. They include ice-wedge casts, fossil sand-wedge polygons, ice-vein network casts, and oriented icing depressions. Cryostratigraphic record testifies to presence of continuous permafrost, or vast patches of permafrost, in deglaciated area of north-west Poland during Late Plenivistulian and during cold spells of Late Vistulian. |
