Record #126936:

Saalian nivation activity in the Bosbeek valley, NE Belgium / F. Gullentops, J. Janssen, E. Paulissen.

Title: Saalian nivation activity in the Bosbeek valley, NE Belgium / F. Gullentops, J. Janssen, E. Paulissen.
Author(s): Gullentops, F.
Janssen, J.
Paulissen, E.
Date: 1993.
Abstract: Evidence shows that, during Saalian, snow played major role in shaping landscape. Inferred that nivation banks were important for rapid retreat of southeast-facing valley side in loose deposits. Rapid snowmelt at beginning of summers was important for formation of periglacial pediment between western valley side and Saalian river bed. Weichselian erosion slightly re-shaped this pediment and finally fossilized it by lowering of water table.
