Abstract: Reports experimental investigation of effect of orientation on heat transfer performance of right-angled thermosyphon, this configuration being suitable for many de-icing purposes. Using small bore tubes containing water at sub-atmospheric pressures, systematic coverage of tube inclinations has been made. Data reveal complexity of hydrodynamic and thermal behaviour, as interpreted in terms of simulated flow observations. Heat-flux contour map has been constructed showing useful behavioural characteristics.
