Abstract: Reports experimental investigation of evaporative thermosyphon with right-angled configuration in which horizontal condenser lies above vertical evaporator; this configuration is suitable for many de-icing purposes. Particular attention given to filling quantity, measured as fraction of evaporator volume, and effects of condenser and evaporator length. Several behavioural regimes were identified and used to explain variations in heat-transfer rate.
