Record #126909:

Analysis of data from indentation tests on freshwater ice / S.N. Chin, Devinder S. Sodhi.

Title: Analysis of data from indentation tests on freshwater ice / S.N. Chin, Devinder S. Sodhi.
Author(s): Chin, S. N.
Sodhi, Devinder S.
Date: 1993.
Publisher: New York: American Society of Mechanical Engineers
In: OMAE 1993. Proceedings of the 12th International Conference on Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering. Volume IV. Arctic/Polar technology. (1993.),
Abstract: Tests were conducted using segmented indenter at different velocities against ice. Results of analysis of data show that there is decrease in coherence and cross-correlation between pressures generated in different segments of indenter with increasing indentation rate. Trends of mean and maximum pressure are given with respect to indentation velocity and aspect ratio. Concludes that size of failure zones, from which brittle flaking fracture originates, decreases with increasing velocity of indenter, and that number of failure zones increases with increasing aspect ratio.
