The role of Saami traditions in sustainable development / Elina Helander.

Title: The role of Saami traditions in sustainable development / Elina Helander.
Author(s): Helander, Elina.
Date: 1993.
Publisher: Aldershot, England: Dartmouth Publishing Company
In: Politics and sustainable growth in the Arctic. (1993.), Vol. 7
Abstract: Author sees Saami as one people, with one language in several dialects and one way of relating to natural world. At time of writing only Norway had any Saami Assembly. Reindeer-herding was integral to their culture for centuries, though now herds are becoming larger and wilder, being used almost entirely for meat. People's knowledge is not well used by southern firms and power centres; author concludes with suggested measures for sustainable development.
