| Abstract: | Short-term (6 months to 17 years) glaciochemical records have been collected from several glacier basins in this area (western Himalaya, Karakoram, Tibetan plateau) where spatial distribution of snow chemistry is controlled by influx of dust from arid and semi-arid regions. Influence of marine aerosol is examined and glaciers are identified whose chemical record is most likely to reflect annual to decadal variability of Asian monsoon. |
