Abstract: As first contribution to isotopic study of hydrology of Urumqi river basin, Tyan' Shan', four catchments having different water recharge sources were sampled along with atmospheric precipitation. Wide range of values was found for individual precipitation events, together with fairly large seasonal variation. Main contribution to runoff came from groundwater and snowmelt.
