| Abstract: | Summary of Indian research programme (1977-92) highlights applications of cosmogenic (³²Si), natural (²¹⁰Pb) and artificial (¹³⁷Cs, ⁹⁵Zn) radioisotopes, along with stable isotopes (δ¹⁸O, δ D), to obtain information on dynamics and stability of glacier ice and climate in Himalayan environment. Data obtained relate to glacier movement, past surface-ice flow rates, accumulation rate of ice, and climatic variations over past few centuries. |
