Record #126775:

Spatial variations of glacier mass input in the Langtang valley, Nepal Himalayas / Takayuki Shiraiwa, Ken'ichi Ueno, Tomomi Yamada.

Title: Spatial variations of glacier mass input in the Langtang valley, Nepal Himalayas / Takayuki Shiraiwa, Ken'ichi Ueno, Tomomi Yamada.
Author(s): Shiraiwa, Takayuki.
Ueno, Ken'ichi.
Yamada, Tomomi.
Date: 1993.
Publisher: Wallingford, Oxfordshire: IAHS Press
In: Snow and glacier hydrology. Proceedings of an International Symposium held at Kathmandu, Nepal, 16-21 November 1992. (1993.),
Abstract: Extended abstract only. Observations of air temperature and precipitation were conducted at three glacier forefields at altitude of 5100 m, representing uppermost and middle (north- and south-facing) reaches of valley. Three glaciers were adjacent to each site. Concludes that there is regional difference of spatial distribution of precipitation in this valley, synchronous to fact that equilibrium line altitude declines southward by several 100 m. This strongly suggests that distribution of precipitation influences glacier development.
