Snowmelt runoff simulation models and their suitability in Himalayan conditions / Anand Verdhen, T. Prasad.

Title: Snowmelt runoff simulation models and their suitability in Himalayan conditions / Anand Verdhen, T. Prasad.
Author(s): Verdhen, Anand.
Prasad, T.
Date: 1993.
Publisher: Wallingford, Oxfordshire: IAHS Press
In: Snow and glacier hydrology. Proceedings of an International Symposium held at Kathmandu, Nepal, 16-21 November 1992. (1993.),
Abstract: Presents and discusses application of forecast model (HEC-1) to sub-basin of Beas river, tributary to Indus and 203.21 km² in area. Simulation of runoff was performed using degree-day index method with uniform loss rate function and Clark unit hydrography options of HEC-1. Input variables are based on field observations whereas model parameters are obtained through optimization and realistic judgement. Shows that model can be applied to small basin if only 3 or 6 hourly input variables are available; otherwise it is suitable only for large basins.
