Abstract: Basic quantitative indices of calculation of glacial runoff have been derived during expeditions to north and central Tien Shan, south-east Tibet and northern slopes of Himalayas. Predominance of summer precipitation is important property of climatic regime in these mountains. Principal components which influence intensity of melt and formation of runoff are determined. In some regions with continental climate, it would be preferable to calculate glacial runoff using solar parameters. In other regions, calculations are based on air-temperature data. Using model described, it is possible to integrate, vary and combine different methods of calculation including surface as well as distance measurements.
