520 3# ‡aAs precipitation data in high Himalaya are scarce, estimates of stored solid precipitation in accumulation areas of glaciers contribute to better understanding of hydrological conditions. Stratigraphic observations in crevasses and field observations in snow pits on three glaciers in Langtang valley were made and snow water equivalents assessed for period 1980-81 to 1988-89. These measurements serve as basis for verification of simulated values calculated by meana of precipitation-runoff models.
