Record #126757:

Estimation of snowmelt runoff in Himalayan catchments incorporating remote sensing data / Khadga Bdr Thapa.

Title: Estimation of snowmelt runoff in Himalayan catchments incorporating remote sensing data / Khadga Bdr Thapa.
Author(s): Thapa, Khadga Bdr.
Date: 1993.
Publisher: Wallingford, Oxfordshire: IAHS Press
In: Snow and glacier hydrology. Proceedings of an International Symposium held at Kathmandu, Nepal, 16-21 November 1992. (1993.),
Abstract: Presents result of investigations based on photo interpretation of Himalayan catchments in and around Nepal together with functional relationships of pre-monsoonal snowmelt runoff separately with temperature and snow-covered area. Available Landsat images, temperature and streamflow data have been analyzed from 1975 to 1989. Regression equations for temperature versus streamflow and for snow-covered area versus streamflow were obtained with limited data. Because of uncertain winter precipitation and inherent sunny spring, latter relationship gives more reasonable spring melt forecast.
