Record #126756:

The Snow and Ice Hydrology Project; a Pakistan-Canada research and training programme / K. Hewitt, Gordon J. Young.

Title: The Snow and Ice Hydrology Project; a Pakistan-Canada research and training programme / K. Hewitt, Gordon J. Young.
Author(s): Hewitt, K.
Young, Gordon J.
Date: 1993.
Publisher: Wallingford, Oxfordshire: IAHS Press
In: Snow and glacier hydrology. Proceedings of an International Symposium held at Kathmandu, Nepal, 16-21 November 1992. (1993.),
Abstract: Describes inception, implementation and possible future developments of this project, which was conceived in 1981 and entered first of five summer field seasons in 1985. Recognizing that Indus River is fed largely by melting ice and snow from Karakoram mountains and that there is insufficient local understanding of processes of snow and ice melt, main objectives have been to set up capability for undertaking relevant research, initiating and developing that research, and laying basis for more operationally focused future programme.
