Record #126741:

Lateglacial and Holocene glacier fluctuations and climate variations in western Norway: a review / Atle Nesje, Svein Olaf Dahl.

Title: Lateglacial and Holocene glacier fluctuations and climate variations in western Norway: a review / Atle Nesje, Svein Olaf Dahl.
Author(s): Nesje, Atle.
Dahl, Svein Olaf.
Date: 1993.
In: Quaternary Science Reviews. (1993.), Vol. 12(4) (1993)
Abstract: Evidence from moraine, palynological data, and tree limits suggest that considerable climate changes occurred from late glacial (14 ka BP) up to present, and especially during Younger Dryas and Erdalen events and Little Ice Age (11-10 ka BP, 9.1±2 ka BP, and mid-18th century, respectively). Jostedalbre and most of west Norwegian glaciers disappeared during Early Holocene (8-6 ka BP) and reformed about 5 ka BP. From 2.5 ka BP, equilibrium-line altitude fluctuated around modern levels. Modern glaciers reached maximum neoglacial extent during Little Ice Age.
