Record #126721:

The comparison of West Spitsbergen and Franz Josef Land coastal marine ecosystems / Jan Marcin Wȩsławski.

Title: The comparison of West Spitsbergen and Franz Josef Land coastal marine ecosystems / Jan Marcin Wȩsławski.
Author(s): Wȩsławski, Jan Marcin.
Date: 1993.
In: Studia i Materiały Oceanologiczne. (1993.), Vol. 64 (1993)
Abstract: Two glacier bays, one at Svalbard (77°N) and other on Franz Josef Land (FJL) (81°N), have similar size and climatic regime. Maximal sea temperature is about +4°C at Spitsbergen, while only -1°C at FJL. Water stratification is pronounced in summer at Spitsbergen and weak at FJL. As result more primary production falls to bottom at FJL, hence richer benthic fauna develops.
