Abstract: Speakers described: The Arctic Region - challenges and opportunities, environmental challenges in the Arctic Region, and utilization of living marine resources in the High North. "Purpose" of Arctic is elusive, but attitudes to it are paramount. Only way to achieve productivity is by continuous subsidies. Success is matter of philosophy. Climate change shows up magnified. Pollution and over-fishing were also highlighted. Comments followed.
