Abstract: Eight samples of ice algae were collected from annual ice in Tikhaya Bay, Franz Josef Land. Species included 58 diatoms and others. Maximum quantity was 132,300 cells/l. Ice community consisted mainly of benthic and planktonic- benthic species of marine and brackish-water marine pennate diatoms, their resting stages, freshwater unicellular algae and marine chlorophycean.
