Abstract: In diagram, isotope compositions are expressed as δO¹⁸ parameter relative to standard mean ocean water; values of this parameter vary widely from --43.1 to --58.7 ppt, and indicate severe depletion of ice in O¹⁸. In general, values less than --50 ppt imply very cold climatic conditions at time of ice formation, found previously in southern hemisphere only in Vostok ice core. Another feature of data is change in δO⁻¹⁸ parameter by 10 ppt between neighbouring stations, implying major change in average annual temperature at time and place where where ice formed. Consequently ice can be labelled as "hot" (formed during interglacial epoch) or "cold" (formed during glacial epoch)
