| Abstract: | Density-dependent range conditions, supplementary feeding and their effects on reindeer winter diet, carcass weights and calf production were examined. Standing crop biomass of ground lichens depended on mean density of deer, but with time lag. Most important substitutes for lichens were dwarf shrubs. Calf numbers, weight and lichen biomass decreased together. |
