Record #126552:

The simulation of high latitude ice--ocean processes using a coupled atmosphere--ice--ocean model / Siobhan P. O'Farrell.

Title: The simulation of high latitude ice--ocean processes using a coupled atmosphere--ice--ocean model / Siobhan P. O'Farrell.
Author(s): O'Farrell, Siobhan P.
Date: [1993]
Publisher: Boston, MA: American Meteorological Society
In: Fourth International Conference on Southern Hemisphere Meteorology and Oceanography, March 29--April 2, 1993, Hobart, Australia. A Joint Meeting of the American Meteorological Society and the Australian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society. Preprints. ([1993]),
Abstract: Describes model, which consists of 9-level R21 CSIRO climate model, 12-level ocean model at same horizontal resolution as atmosphere, and dynamic sea-ice model with cavitating fluid ice rheology and 3-level ice thermodynamics. Leads and polynyas within ice, and, hence, ice concentration, are governed by heat budget in adjacent ocean mixed layer, depth of which is also controlled by ocean dynamics. Focus of this paper is on ice simulations and impact of ice on ocean dynamics circulation and water-mass formation.
