Record #126538:
A comparative study of three approaches to cloud/sea-ice discrimination using AVHRR data / Jeremy L. Harris.
Title: | A comparative study of three approaches to cloud/sea-ice discrimination using AVHRR data / Jeremy L. Harris. |
Author(s): | Harris, Jeremy L. |
Date: | [1993] |
Publisher: | Boston, MA: American Meteorological Society |
In: | Fourth International Conference on Southern Hemisphere Meteorology and Oceanography, March 29--April 2, 1993, Hobart, Australia. A Joint Meeting of the American Meteorological Society and the Australian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society. Preprints. ([1993]), |
Abstract: | Approaches are: complex threshold (Gesell, 1989), pattern recognition (Ebert, 1987), and radiative transfer (Lynch-Blosse and co-workers, 1990). Each approach was developed into workable algorithm and then applied to satellite imagery. They were then evaluated by two criteria (skill level and ease of application) to determine most appropriate discrimination scheme. Third approach seemed most suitable for purpose required. |
