Record #126435:

A solution for the icing heave of foundations in permafrost regions by lowering the groundwater table / Shifeng Liu, Xinqing Zou.

Title: A solution for the icing heave of foundations in permafrost regions by lowering the groundwater table / Shifeng Liu, Xinqing Zou.
Author(s): Liu, Shifeng.
Zou, Xinqing.
Date: 1993.
Publisher: Wushan, Guangzhou: South China University of Technology Press
In: Permafrost. Sixth International Conference. Proceedings (Vol. 2), July 5-9, 1993, Beijing China. (1993.),
Abstract: Describes this treatment, which took place via shaft excavated to depth of 120 m from which ground water was withdrawn for 12 h d⁻¹ for three months. This prevented frost heave of foundations of nearby building and shaft has since been converted to well for supplying water for boilers and for drinking. This mitigates expense of sinking shaft.
