Record #126350:
Snowpack stratigraphy evolution at forested and open sites / M.R. Albert, J.P. Hardy.
Title: | Snowpack stratigraphy evolution at forested and open sites / M.R. Albert, J.P. Hardy. |
Author(s): | Albert, M. R. Hardy, J. P. |
Date: | [1993] |
In: | Eastern Snow Conference. Proceedings. ([1993]), Vol. 50th Annual Meeting ([1993]) |
Abstract: | Discusses results of field observations for winter 1992-93 in northern Vermont. Predominant stratigraphic features of both sites were similar, although snow can have dramatically different behaviour in response to tree- and slope-induced local differences. Differences in solar radiation produced differences in early snow cover, which controlled formation and nature of basal ice layer that remained throughout season. |
Notes: | Eastern Snow Conference. Proceedings. Vol. 50th Annual Meeting :205-212 ([1993]). Joint Meeting with 61st Western Snow Conference. |
Keywords: | 551.578.46 -- Snow cover and snow patches. 551.578.465 -- Snow cover, stratification. E10 -- Glaciology: snow and avalanches. (73) -- United States. (74) -- North-eastern states. |
