| Abstract: | Snow water equivalent (SWE) of watershed in Sierra Nevada, CA, was calculated using different methods to estimate snow-covered area from Landsat TM image and different methods to distribute point measurements of SWE made on ground. Estimates of snow-covered area were compared with those derived from high-resolution air photography for same area. Basin SWE estimates were compared with independent estimates of total basin SWE, made from measured snowmelt runoff and rough estimates of water balance of snowmelt season. All measurements were made on 10 May 1992. |
