Snowdrift modeling in the CRREL wind tunnel / Robert B. Haehnel, J.H. Wilkinson, J.H. Lever.

Title: Snowdrift modeling in the CRREL wind tunnel / Robert B. Haehnel, J.H. Wilkinson, J.H. Lever.
Author(s): Haehnel, Robert B.
Wilkinson, J. H.
Lever, J. H.
Date: [1993]
In: Eastern Snow Conference. Proceedings. ([1993]), Vol. 50th Annual Meeting ([1993])
Abstract: Wind tunnel built in 1985 was modified in 1987, and has now been further modified to achieve flow field that replicates planetary boundary layer. Glass beads were used as model snow instead of activated clay. These changes allowed five of six principal scaling laws for snowdrift similitude to be satisfied; only Froude number is significantly distorted. Generally, agreement was good between model and prototype drift geometries, but there is insufficient field data available to validate model results thoroughly.
Notes:
