Record #126328:

An approach to assessing changes in snow cover; an example for the former Soviet Union / Roger G. Barry, Richard L. Armstrong, A.N. Krenke.

Title: An approach to assessing changes in snow cover; an example for the former Soviet Union / Roger G. Barry, Richard L. Armstrong, A.N. Krenke.
Author(s): Barry, Roger G.
Armstrong, Richard L.
Krenke, A. N.
Date: [1993]
In: Eastern Snow Conference. Proceedings. ([1993]), Vol. 50th Annual Meeting ([1993])
Abstract: Discusses problems of using various types of satellite remotely-sensed and surface data, individually and in combination, to address questions relating to snow cover. Data concerned are for areas in former USSR, where new sources of data are becoming available. Snow-depth data are described and, for 10-day average, are compared with passive microwave-derived estimates. Possible sources of difference are discussed including problems related to wet snow, topography and vegetation, as well as errors.
