Abstract: Swedish Saami schoolchildren were examined on several aspects of language proficiency and in different ways. Investigation was longitudinal study and mainly concerned structure - grammatical competence. Fifteen children at different levels of proficiency, some with Saami as first language, were studied. Investigated inflectional forms showed clear hierarchy in learning process and order of learning and that some speakers do not acquire all aspects of competence.
