Record #126224:

The growth condition of a segregated ice layer and the segregation potential / Yoshisuke Nakano, Kazuo Takeda.

Title: The growth condition of a segregated ice layer and the segregation potential / Yoshisuke Nakano, Kazuo Takeda.
Author(s): Nakano, Yoshisuke.
Takeda, Kazuo.
Date: 1993.
In: CRREL Special Report. (1993.), Vol. 93-22 (1993)
Abstract: Growth condition of segregated ice layer in freezing soil can be described accurately by model of frozen fringe in which gradients of temperature and unfrozen water pressure are two independent driving forces of water. Segregation potential theory of soil freezing was examined by using this model and empirical findings. Accuracy of theory in predicting growth of final ice layer can be improved if neglected term of pressure gradient is restored in equation of water flow.
