Abstract: Thermal data in permafrost body on shore of Manitounuk Sound have been acquired regularly since August 1987. Thermal properties of soil were measured on cored samples in laboratory. Validity of values for thermal properties were therafter tested by comparing simulation results of one-dimensional thermal model with observed temperature regime along one cable for which continuous data had been acquired by automatic datalogging. Next, finite element method is used to study thermal behaviour of site in two-dimensional domain along section including cables. This model uses enthalpy formulation to solve Stefan's problem with thermodependent soil properties.
