Abstract: | Examines this interaction, using ethanol as model. Depending on concentration and temperature of ethanol, and initial ice temperature, either dissolution or ice formation occurs. If quantity of ice is assumed to be infinite and quantity of ethanol finite, thermodynamic equilibrium will occur. At ice--ethanol interface, temperature is function of solution parameters and boundary conditions. Phase-boundary temperature varies under non-equilibrium conditions of ice dissolution. One-dimensional steady-state regimes of ice dissolution by ethanol were studied. Theory and experimental constants were used for modelling drilling by ice dissolution. |
