Abstract: Ice-flow model has been developed, based on date reference horizons down to 1623 m. Model is used to reconstruct past accumulation rates from sequences of detected annual layers in upper 2321 m of ice core obtained during Greenland Ice-core Project (GRIP). Comparison of these past accumulation rates with corresponding δ¹⁸O values show strong correlation. This relationship can be used in nonsteady-state flow model, in which past accumulation rates, deduced from continuous δ¹⁸O record, are used to model time scale. This time scale and modelled annual layer compare well with observations.
