Abstract: Discusses thermohaline circulation in relation to deglaciation in northern hemisphere. Of relevance to this problem is that high-resolution oxygen isotopic records in benthic foraminifera often show two-step depletion in ¹⁸O during deglaciation. Reasons for this are reviewed and debated.
