Record #126025:

Role of climate on active layer variations, Svalbard / Krzysztof Migala.

Title: Role of climate on active layer variations, Svalbard / Krzysztof Migala.
Author(s): Migala, Krzysztof.
Date: 1993.
Publisher: Wushan, Guangzhou: South China University of Technology Press
In: Permafrost. Sixth International Conference. Proceedings (Vol. 1), July 5-9, 1993, Beijing China. (1993.),
Abstract: Main aim was to use empirically derived equation to estimate annual depth of active layer over period of 28 years. Impact of freeze--thaw cycles on bedrock weathering and vertical stratification of active layer are also addressed. Equation and prediction were derived on basis of mean daily air temperatures and amounts of daily liquid precipitation from two sites on west coast of Spitsbergen.
Notes:

In: Permafrost. Sixth International Conference. Proceedings (Vol. 1), July 5-9, 1993, Beijing China / International Conference on Permafrost.

Keywords: 551.34 -- Geocryology. Frozen ground.
551.345.2 -- Permafrost, formation and decay.
551.588 -- Climate, effect of man and environment.
E8 -- Glaciology: frost action and permafrost.
