| Abstract: | High resolution (well-dated) dust records from ice cores from both hemispheres (South Pole and Siple stations, Antarctica; sites "A" and "T"; Greenland; Quelccaya ice cap, Peru; and Dunde ice cap, China) suggest linkage between increased atmospheric dust and cooler temperatures over Antarctica, but similar relationship is not observed in ice cores from Greenland or China. Net accumulation histories for last 400 years reveal no discernible global pattern although interesting regional differences and similarities exist. |
