Record #125784:

Dilatometry of porous limestone undergoing freezing and thawing / A. Pissart, Angélique Prick, Jean-Claude Ozouf.

Title: Dilatometry of porous limestone undergoing freezing and thawing / A. Pissart, Angélique Prick, Jean-Claude Ozouf.
Author(s): Pissart, A.
Prick, Angélique.
Ozouf, Jean-Claude.
Date: 1993.
Publisher: Wushan, Guangzhou: South China University of Technology Press
In: Permafrost. Sixth International Conference. Proceedings (Vol. 1), July 5-9, 1993, Beijing China. (1993.),
Abstract: Diameters and lengths of cylindrical rock samples were measured during freeze--thaw cycles. Increase in volume, or dilatation, is related to transformation of water to ice when sample is close to saturation. When sample is not saturated, migration of water from small pores and fissures to larger empty pores becomes main process during freezing and results in contraction of rock.
